Blaise Pascal, a 17th-century French intellectual: mathematician, physicist, inventor-engineer, philosopher, theologian and writer, stated that “The past and present are means for us; the goal is only the future. "

Pascal's maxim is also particularly close to our hearts because, as a physicist, he was mainly concerned with the mechanics of liquids, which is how we handle and store LPG.
Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. trying to use the experience from the past and the present potential sets itself very ambitious goals for the future.
There is huge potential in our employees and terminals. This is why we have applied to join the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) project for 2021-2027.

Our projects concern:
- Bunkering of LNG-fuelled seagoing vessels on the premises of Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. Marine LPG
Terminal in Gdynia.
- Achieve synergies by supplying alternative fuels to the market, including hydrogen.
- Modernisation of the railway stands in the area of the Marine LPG Terminal.
- Integration of LPG terminal management systems.

Some of the above projects have already been implemented for several months. We are looking for experienced partners, funding opportunities and industry contractors.
Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. concluded on 11 March 2021 an agreement with Claritas Investments BV, which in its portfolio has among others dozens of completed photovoltaic farm projects - several hundred MW.

The agreement was signed in order to cooperate in the implementation of hydrogen production from clean energy in Poland and to develop the marketing and sales of the above product to Polish customers. The parties agreed to investigate the possibilities of pure hydrogen production and to implement a pilot project in Poland. Initial locations and technologies for the project are currently being analysed. Two locations are under consideration - Planta and Gdynia.

Under the so-called Sulphur Directive, a limit of 0.1 per cent sulphur content in fuel used by ships operating in Sulphur Emission Control Areas (SECAs) has been in force since the beginning of 2015. The Directive applies, inter alia, to the Baltic Sea and the North Sea. From 1 January 2020, it is just 0.5 per cent. The European Commission plans to completely eliminate emissions from maritime transport by 2050. We are taking up this challenge and preparing a new service with truck-to-ship technology. The directive on the development of alternative fuels infrastructure stipulates that an adequate number of LNG bunkering points should be established in seaports by the end of 2025 at the latest. In the case of Poland, these are to be: Gdańsk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Świnoujście.

Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. in the field of LNG ship bunkering already has preliminary studies concerning the possibility of using the Maritime LPG Terminal in Gdynia as a place for providing the service. We have a verified scope of work to complete. We have already developed, among the others 'LNG bunkering technology manual', 'Document of protection against explosion during LNG bunkering for Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. Marine LPG Terminal', 'Assessment of explosion hazards during LNG bunkering for Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. Marine LPG Terminal'. We are the only professional and prepared in terms of safety (fire protection and specialist authorisations our employees have) place in the Port of Gdynia to provide such a service.

The modernisation and integration of both terminals is a plan to reduce costs but also to reduce the number of logistic operations (rail and road), which is expected to contribute significantly to increasing their efficiency.

Our aim is the future.

Something ends, something begins. Alpetrol Sp. z o.o. exceeded 100,000 tons of LPG gas reloading.
This result, achieved one year after the resumption of operations, is optimistic, but we can assure you that it does not satisfy us. We want a bigger piece of this cake and we'd love to share it with you.

Working with you, I can confidently say that it is true. Your commitment, creativity or extensive substantive knowledge and experience clearly indicate where we are going. Of course, sometimes we do have weaknesses. But there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers (and how again the quote from the same Master) "I would like to do nothing ... How is it done?"
I know that you are doing it because you are great, but also out of responsibility towards our business partners, who deserve a lot of thanks for their trust in us. Finally, I wish you every success and satisfaction from working on new challenges and achieving all your goals (and we have many of them).

The sectoral sanctions introduced by the EU against Belarus do not apply to LPG transit. This is undoubtedly good news for the market and importers of this raw material. As published by the editors of e-petrol.pl, the Ministry of Finance informed that under Council Regulation (EU) 2021/1030 of June 24, 2021 amending Regulation (EC) No. 765/2006 on restrictive measures against Belarus, the transit of Russian LPG is not subject to sanctions and it does not raise any interpretation doubts. Every year Polish drivers consume the most LPG from all EU countries. According to the Polish Liquid Fuels Organization, the total LPG demand in 2020 was 2.34 million tonnes. Of this number, as much as 1.73 million tonnes is gas for cars.

Unfortunately, at the beginning of August this year, an explosion took place at the Piererabiotka plant in Russia and the gas demethanization installation was destroyed. Poland from Russia imports over 65% of the LPG consumed.

As you can see, eliminating supplies from Belarus and limiting supplies from Russia are not enough.

Russia has increased tariffs from $ 9.9 per tonne of LPG since September 1. This will be important for the end user. According to analysts, the price per liter above PLN 3 should be expected soon. The possibility of Alpetrol Sp. z o. o. to diversify LPG supplies through the use of the Sea Gas Terminal in Gdynia, which allows for supplies from EU suppliers, and the Railway Terminal in Planta for servicing trainsets arriving in transit from Russia. Thus, we ensure the continuity of supplies to our customers, but we also try to minimize the effects of supply limitation with growing demand (defrosting the economy after lockdown) and thus minimize the increase in product prices for our customers.
